Bihar Flood Relief: Phase-I


Phase I: Immediate Action

  1. Collected fifteen truckloads (more than 25 tonnes) of relief material including food, clothing and Utensils and dispatched the same through Indian Railways to Purnia and Khagariya districts of Bihar. This material was distributed through Doctors for You, Art of Living, Government of Bihar and Army to about 5000 flood victims families situated in Purnia, Saharsa and Supaul districts in Bihar.

  2. Medicines worth Rs 10 lacs (donated by Cipla, Elder, PDP Parentral Drug India Ltd, Mr and Mrs Khatri from Kandivali, Dr Arun Singh, Dr Anil Lunia, etc) were sent by air cargo (courtesy: Jetlite airways) to Patna. These medicines are being used for relief camps at Purnia, Pharbisganj run by Art of Living, Supaul by Indian Army, Saharsa and Madhepura by DFY.

  3. Various individuals and organizations have donated about Rs. 2 lakhs to Doctors for You through various channels. These funds would be used for procurement of medicines as well as supporting the logistic arrangement of Medical and Non Medical volunteers.

  4. A team of doctors was sent to Pharbisganj and Purnia on urgent basis for the camps administered by Art of Living.
